Having become a leader in the field for a myriad of protective services including managed DNS, DDoS safeguarded and SSL certification; it has recently sold their SSL certification market to Symantec. With more than 1000 employees developing and maintaining the system, Symantec’s ‘Powered by Verisign’ certificates are still up there with the market leaders.

Verisign certificates can claim ‘Universal browser compatibility’. On both desktop and mobile browsers, Verisign have almost 100% root ubiquity.

Recommended SSL Plans

As credit to their sterling reputation, Verisign’s certificates are universally secure. As such, many retailers will use their entry-level package with confidence, though this isn’t recommended. Websites with functioning e-Commerce elements should opt for either the Secure Site Pro w/EV or the Secure Site w/EV plans. Small websites will be fully protected with the standard Secure Site plans. Verisign’s bestselling certificates are the Secure Site Pro and the Secure Site w/EV.

Reviews across the board for Verisign are almost impenetrable, especially since their integration with Symantec. Offering up to 256-bit encryption, Verisign goes above and beyond the capabilities of its competitors and the brand is certainly a huge bonus to the security aspect.
